Peter Lawson scooped the top prize in the Scunthorpe Young People's Film Festival. At the special Gala evening held at the Plowright Theatre in Laneham Street, on Thursday 1st October. Peter won the prize for the best animation in the 12 to 16 age group. although he had his year 11 examination piece "The Shadows" shortlisted for the prize it was in fact his year 10 "
Methane Attack" that gained the reward. Congratulations to him and to Matthew Campbell, Christopher Carr and ex-student Tom Robinson who all were short listed.
He was not however our only outright winner. Jack and, brother, Tom Richmond were part of the The Buzz Youth Arts Festival Film Group, a summer vacation film club who made their film about aliens taking over Scunthorpe - "Big Trouble In Little Scunthorpe". They gained top award in the Fiction 12-16 category. This was acting to add to Jack's already considerable talent as an animator.
Jack also doubled as the school's festival reporter as we were all back here for the Year 6 evening. "There were some great films on show, a good band in the interval (Zero Hour) and a fantastic buffet which is always nice."
