On the verge of an historic double!
On Tuesday 16th April South Axholme's Under 16 Football team were attempting to win the first trophy, in what could be a double winning season, in the Scunthorpe and District Under 16 Cup Final at Birch Park home of Bottesford FC. The team were dealt a blow on the day with influential striker James Windle missing the game owing to injury. However, the team were in excellent spirits and confident of retaining their title. The team started well and from a Joe Jackson corner central defender Ryan Maw leapt to head home the opening goal. After the half time break South Axholme continued their domination of the match and Harry Scott's acute drive from just inside the area was tapped in by striker Noel Burdett. Substitute striker Mark Sidebottom then came on and added a third with a cute finish.
